Your story, in watercolour

A family portrait, the house you grew up in, or someone you want to remember. I paint from conversation, photos and memories, and send a sketch for approval before the brush touches paper.

Every painting is a single original, on cotton watercolour paper, signed by hand.

They’re family too.

The process

Six steps, from photo to wall

We’ll make most decisions together, in conversation.

Send photos and your story

Fill in the form on this page and attach photos. A few words about the people and the occasion help me more than any photo.

Which photos to send

Photos are the raw material

A good phone photo is enough, as long as it’s sharp and well lit. Send as many as you like, and I’ll choose.

  • Natural daylight, by a window or in shade
  • Camera at eye level, faces large in the frame
  • The original file. On WhatsApp, send as a “document”
  • Several photos of each person, from different angles
  • No group photo needed, I combine them
  • A word about true eye and hair colour

Only have one old photo, small or faded? Send it anyway. For memorial portraits, sometimes that’s all there is, and we’ll find a way together.

Let’s begin

Tell me, and send photos

No commitment at this stage. I’ll get back to you with questions, a composition idea and a quote.

FAQ

Before we begin

Can you combine people from different photos?

Yes, it happens in almost every commission. Send a good photo of each person and I’ll build one composition. The sketch shows how they stand together before I start painting.

Can you paint someone who is no longer with us?

Yes. Send every photo you have, even old or blurry ones, and tell me about them. We’ll work slowly and carefully, and you’ll approve every stage.

What if I want to change something?

At the sketch stage you can ask for up to two rounds of changes to the composition. Once the painting is finished, before I sign it, you can ask for one gentle correction. Watercolour can’t be erased, so the sketch is the place for all the big decisions.

I have a deadline. Is there enough time?

It’s best to get in touch about 8 weeks before the occasion. If time is shorter, write to me anyway and I’ll see what’s possible. Sometimes there’s room in the calendar.

How do I pay?

A 50% deposit reserves your place, and the balance is paid when the painting is ready, before shipping. Credit card, Bit or bank transfer.

And if I change my mind?

You can cancel until the sketch is approved and get your deposit back, less the cost of the sketch. After the sketch is approved, the painting is made especially for you and can’t be returned. Full details on the cancellations and returns page.

Does it come framed?

The painting arrives on paper, wrapped and protected. You can add a wood or aluminium frame with glass, at extra cost. If you plan to frame it yourself, I’m happy to recommend a framer in Jerusalem.

Do you ship abroad?

Yes. The painting is sent by tracked international shipping, in rigid packaging. Shipping cost depends on the destination.

Can I give a portrait as a surprise gift?

Of course. You can send me photos quietly, or buy a gift card and let them choose the moment themselves.

Who owns the rights to the painting?

The original painting is yours. Copyright stays with me, as is customary, and I won’t print or sell copies of it. I’ll show it on the site or Instagram only if you ticked that it’s OK.
